Customs
Qatar is a GCC member — it applies the unified GCC customs rate of 5% on most imported goods. Exceptions: alcohol and tobacco attract significantly higher rates or are prohibited. Qatar has not introduced VAT (uniquely among GCC states). Personal shipments up to 1,000 QAR (~€240) are generally processed on a simplified basis. Qatar General Authority of Customs manages clearance in Doha — typically fast thanks to modern infrastructure.
Required documents
- CN22 is a simplified customs declaration for parcels up to 2 kg and €270 in value. Completed at the post office or generated by the carrier. Without CN22, the parcel may be held at customs.

Frequently asked questions
Is VAT charged on imported parcels in Qatar?
No — Qatar has not introduced VAT (unlike other GCC countries such as UAE or Saudi Arabia). Only the 5% GCC duty applies. Shipments are therefore slightly cheaper than to UAE or SA.
