    Customs

Indonesia has a very low de minimis threshold — just 3 USD (~3 EUR). Virtually every shipment is subject to customs clearance. Customs duty ranges from 0 to 150% by goods category, and PPN (Indonesian VAT) is 11%. Shipments above 1,500 USD require a formal customs declaration (PIB). The customs process in Indonesia is complex and time-consuming — allow 5–10 days for clearance in Jakarta.

    Required documents

    • CN22 is a simplified customs declaration for parcels up to 2 kg and €270 in value. Completed at the post office or generated by the carrier. Without CN22, the parcel may be held at customs.
    • Commercial invoice
    • Invoice (mandatory, detailed description in English or Indonesian)
    • PIB (formal customs declaration) for shipments above 1,500 USD
    • BPOM permit for cosmetics, medicines, and food

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Why is Indonesia so complicated for shipments?

The de minimis threshold is just 3 USD — virtually every shipment goes through customs clearance. Indonesian Customs (Bea Cukai) is known for complex processes and random inspections. We recommend DHL Express, which has direct customs expertise in Indonesia.

How long does delivery to Indonesia take?

Standard shipments take 12–20 days (including customs clearance). DHL Express or FedEx deliver in 5–8 business days. Customs processing in Jakarta can add 5–10 days.
